It was the first time he saw a car so closely. Being the curious kid he was he wanted to explore the car. He opened the back door of the car and peeped inside. Suddenly he realised someone grab his hand and pull him behind. It did hurt him a bit, the hold. But that was not the thing that hurt him the most that day. It was the way he was treated. At the age of 5, he was still a very proud kid. He looked at his mother standing by the side at a distance with look of hurt in his eyes. He saw a similar look in her eyes and knew that she has also seen what had happened and she also did not like it. It was difficult for him to decide what hurt him more, the treatment he was subjected to by his aunt or the look of helplessness in his mother's eyes. That very moment the kid promised himself that he will never step insider his uncle's car and will one day buy a car better than the one his uncle owned then. Nobody ever talked about this incident.
Twenty two years later the kid was grown up and looking for buying a car. One of the important point of consideration while deciding the car was what car his uncle owned at that point of time. He had to buy a car better than that as he promised to that five year old kid 22 years back.
After buying the car he called his mother, "mummy maine car le li hai. aapke khandan me sabse mahangi car abhi mere paas hai. :)" She replied, "pura ho gaya tumhara promise." Nobody ever knew about that promised. It was never talked and discussed with anyone till that point and it was surprising to know that his mother knew exactly what that kid promised himself that day. She read that in his eyes. She was happy today for the restored pride, thought. or may be she was just happy because her son was happy.
